Service providers should contact an agency that delivers interpreter services under the LIS program in their area. The agencies delivering Language Interpreter Services (LIS) program also belong to the Ontario Network of Language Interpretation Services (ONLIS), it is a network of 8 not-for-profit agencies that deliver interpretation services across the province.

MCIS is a social enterprise which provides a full suite of language services including professional interpretation, translation and training.

We provide hundreds of public and social service organisations a high quality, responsive (24/7/365) service in more than 200 languages.

MCIS is the designated agency under the Ministry of Citizenship’s (“MCI”) LIS (Language Interpreter Services) program for the Police, Victim Services, Domestic Violence Courts, hospital and community based programs when they serve victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and those exploited through human trafficking in Scarborough, Burlington, Brampton, Mississauga, Oshawa, Orangeville, Orillia, Richmond Hill, Whitby, Bancroft, Belleville, Brighton, Brockville, Cobourg, Kingston, Lindsay, Napanee, Peterborough and Picton. Besides MCI, it also receives financial support from the City of Toronto and the Ministry of the Attorney General.

Central Region including Dufferin, Haliburton, Muskoka, Northumberland, Peterborough, Simcoe, Kawartha Lakes.

Immigrant Women Services Ottawa is multi-service agency located in the City of Ottawa providing services and programs to immigrant women and their families:  including newcomer women, women and children who are victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.  For the past 24 years, IWSO has been providing a 24 hour Language Interpretation Services in more than 60 languages and dialects to government departments, legal, social, health and community agencies in Eastern Ontario.  The IWSO interpreters are professionally trained to deliver the service and adhere to a Code of Ethics and a Standard of Practice.  The Language Interpretation Service is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration.

Ottawa area: Ottawa, Frontenac, Hastings, Lanark, Leeds and Greenville, Lenox and Addington, Prescott and Russell, Prince Edward, Renfrew, Stormont, Dundas and Glengary.

Across Languages provides interpreters for hospitals, the City of London, the Children's Aid Society, the London Middlesex Health Unit, several provincial government ministries, WSIB, WSIAT, CPP, Designated Assessment Centres, lawyers, schools, counsellors and therapists, family doctors, police, provincial courts, community agencies serving refugees and immigrants, as well as many other organizations in London and across South-western Ontario and beyond. Across Languages interpreters, translators and ILSAT markers are covered by our Errors & Omissions insurance. Translation services are delivered to an equally broad range of clients.

 

Through the United Way of London and Middlesex, Across Languages can provide interpreters in some situations where fees cannot be paid. Through funding from the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, Across Languages provides interpreters to organizations and government departments serving victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking, across most of South-Western Ontario.

 

Through the support of Women's Community House, interpreters are accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The KW Multicultural Centre has been serving the community for 40 years and offers many settlement services, programs and support to new Canadians. The Language Interpretation Service is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, and the United Way and run out of the K-W Multicultural Centre. Trained interpreters help to facilitate communication between non-English speakers and community agencies, government offices, professionals and businesses.

 

The KW Multicultural Centre provides interpreter services to the government agencies and various organizations working with victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.

The Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County has been providing services to newcomers since 1974. It offers many programs to assist new Canadians.

 

Language Services Program has a 37-year established record of providing translation and interpretation services to a multitude of companies and businesses including services to government, medical institutions, the private sector, and individuals in the Windsor and Essex County and Chatham-Kent. The MCC has professional interpreters in over 50 different languages on its roster.

 

The Multicultural County of Windsor and Essex County is the only organization in Windsor and Essex County to provide VAWP Interpreters. (The Program is funded by Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration).  We provide interpretation services to the government agencies and various organizations working with victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.

 

The MCC in partnership with St. Clair College delivers 180 hour Language Interpreter Fundamentals Program comprised of 6 courses which includes a field placement for interpreters to acquire the necessary interpreting skills.

INCommunities is the new visual brand for Information Niagara which has been in the business of connecting people and community services for more than 40 years. From humble beginnings in Niagara Falls, this St. Catharines based non-profit delivers a number of exciting programs that help members of the communities they serve.

 

Interpreters Niagara Hamilton provides interpretation services to reduce language barriers between service providers and their clients in the Region of Niagara and the City of Hamilton.

 

Our role is to allow service providers working in a social service setting and their clients to communicate accurately and confidentially with each other through skilled, trained interpreters.

The Interpreter Service (IS) of the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic provides interpreter services for non- English-speaking immigrant and refugee women who are victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and for those abused women who are deaf or hard of hearing. With 25 years’ experience, the Schlifer Clinic is a provincial leader in the provision of training that prepares interpreters for accuracy in complex social and power dynamics in the interpreter relationship. Situated within a full service legal and counselling clinic, the Interpreter Services is known for its expertise in violence against women matters. Women are able, through the assistance of interpreters, to access a variety of essential services such as shelters, community centres, and the mental/medical health, legal, housing and social assistance systems. Rigorously trained Language Interpreters provide effective interpretation for the benefit of both Service Providers in the community who contact us for interpretation, and their clients. In 2010/11, the Interpreter Services Department served 1248 women.
